The long wait of Attack on Titan fans for the anime’s conclusion will finally be happening in 2023 fall. The official Attack on Titan franchise on Twitter has announced the release of the final season part 3 second half after the release of the first half this Saturday aired as a one-hour special. Pony Canyon featured a new opening theme song by SIM (who also sang Rumbling) called “Under the Tree”. You can watch the trailer here Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 4 Teaser - YouTube
Attack on Titan’s final parts naming convention has become a running joke to the fandom because of its unclear titles that will only confuse the audience more when in fact, it is just a bunch of episode batches. However, judging what has been adapted so far, one can safely assume that the next part will be the “actual” final ending of the series. What’s left with this series is the conclusion, or even resolution if possible, of what has been built up by everything so far.
Attack on Titan’s anime adaptation first premiered in the spring of 2013 by Wit studio. With the relative success and popularity of the series, it finally had a second season after four long years in 2017. Without surprise, it followed with a third season first part in 2018, and the second half in 2019. And finally, the last season of the franchise shifted studios from Studio Wit to Studio Mappa hence everything in the visuals and direction is entirely different.
The anime franchise is based on the original Attack on Titan manga written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama published back in 2009 and ended in April 2021 with a total of 34 volumes.
We will never know the peak of Attack on Titan’s popularity despite its imminent conclusion. However, despite the long wait that fans endure for the conclusion, the decade-old journey with this anime is something that would be unforgettable for the time to come since this anime is already deemed a modern classic by most fans. Though the deemed “controversial” ending has generated a divisive opinion in the fandom, no one can exactly predict how the anime will play out the ending of the anime since the adaptation has been faithful and scrupulous to the source material.
